Summary: Beavers are one of the only species that can dramatically modify their habitats to suit their needs. In doing so, they can bring about amazing changes to stream systems that can bolster biodiversity and improve natural water storage on the landscape.  This has led to renewed interest in “beaver restoration,” which encompasses restoring beavers to areas of their former range, mimicking their activities, and helping people resolve beaver conflict.
